Presentation Summary

Western Sky Land Trust is a non-profit focused on safeguarding natural landscapes across southern Alberta. The CLRA AB Chapter has been giving back to Western Sky for several years through various fundraising events including the annual golf tournament. This is a great opportunity to come out to hear about their current projects and see how your support bolsters this important work!

About the Speakers

Max Fritz, Executive Director - Western Sky Land Trust

Max resides in a rural community outside of Calgary and as an avid outdoorsman, thoroughly enjoys the benefits of rural living. The Bow River Watershed is his backyard and playground, while his energy and appreciation for life pursuits come from spending time on the land.

Tara Shackleton, Stewardship Specialist - Western Sky Land Trust

Tara manages Western Sky’s Stewardship and Monitoring programs. Her extensive background in the field of Agrology makes her an extremely valued member of the team. Her passion for natural ecosystems and the critters that live in them make her loved by all landowners. Tara also enjoys giving back to the community as an active volunteer for the Grassland Restoration Forum, Parks Canada, and her children’s schools and sports clubs. In her spare time, she enjoys skiing, swimming, camping, canoeing and rafting.

Mary Jane Block, Director of Rural Development and Conservation - Western Sky Land Trust

MJ was raised on a cattle ranch in the highly sensitive Great Sandhills in Saskatchewan and from a young age she was taught to value, respect and conserve the land she lived and worked on. In her role with Western Sky, she most enjoys collaborating with landowners and walking around native grasslands. Outside of work, she spends time hiking, playing ball, strength training and hanging out with her adult children.
