Your Opportunity

Our Calgary office is looking for an Intermediate Upstream Oil & Gas Project Manager to work within our Site Investigation, Remediation, and Response (SIRR) practice to provide professional services associated with Contaminated Sites Investigation & Remediation, Risk Assessment, and Water monitoring and sampling.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, coordinating, and executing the following:

  • Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Detailed Site Assessments

  • Phase II and III Environmental Site Assessments;

  • Preliminary and Detailed Site Investigations;

  • Soil, groundwater and soil vapour monitoring programs;

  • Remediation and Reclamation programs; and,

  • Spill response

  • Site Specific Liability Assessments (SSLAs)

  • Preparing proposals, managing budget, scope, quality, and timelines on a variety of medium to large sized projects and/or client portfolios.

  • Preparing detailed technical reports.

  • Promoting a strong health and safety culture and actively participate in Stantec’s Health and Safety Program.

  • Providing staff mentoring and training.

  • Working with senior management to determine the future direction of the practice.

  • Obtaining federal security clearances and/or completing drug and alcohol tests will be required.

Occasionally, there may be a need to complete field work in support of your primary responsibilities. The field work may include completing soil, groundwater, vapour, surface water, and sediment sampling. The field component is anticipated to be approximately 20 to 30% of the role and will include travelling within Alberta and adjacent Provinces to complete field work. Spending Monday to Friday out-of-town as part of a team, or independently, as well as weekend work may be required depending on project requirements. Ability to complete long (up to 12-hour days) working outside, traversing over uneven terrain and fields to complete field work, and lift/carry up to 50 pounds, may be required.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Primary skills and working knowledge of sampling techniques (soil, groundwater, vapour, surface water, sediment), as well as testing/sampling protocols.

  • Secondary skills in other environmental services and multidisciplinary work would be a valued asset

  • Developing project delivery skills

  • Proven ability to supervise/manage contractors and clients.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including MS Office skills.

  • Strong note-taking skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and critical thinking skills.

  • Ability to work on your own initiative as well as in a team environment is crucial.

  • A valid driver's license is required.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience on upstream oil and gas sites is required.

  • Previous experience in environmental consulting and knowledge of current industry related codes of practice and regulations (both provincial and federal) is required.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
