ENVIRONMENTAL/LAND/RECLAMATION CONSULTANT

Boreal Land Services Ltd. is a full-service Land, Regulatory & Reclamation consulting company based out of Sherwood Park, Alberta. We are currently seeking an individual to fill a growth position as a full time environmental/land/reclamation consultant.

In this position, you will be given meaningful, productive and challenging assignments related to environmental and regulatory consulting.  The prime candidate would have wide-ranging experience in fields such as wetland ecology, environmental assessments and monitoring, GIS mapping, Public Lands Act disposition acquisition, and reclamation planning and assessments.

Duties

  • Directly interact with clients and manage a diverse set of environmental/regulatory projects.
  • Provide estimates, define scopes of work and manage budgets for a variety of projects.
  • Collect, interpret and report biophysical field data in support of Public Lands acquisition and reclamation applications.
  • Assist in completion of Public Lands Act disposition applications, conservation & reclamation plans and reclamation certificate applications.
  • Compilation of environmental field data in support of environmental site assessments & wetland assessments.
  • Collaborate with and provide assistance to team members including land administrators, biologists, foresters, agrologists, planners, and environmental scientists.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 + years of experience conducting environmental site assessments, wetland assessments, surface land acquisition, reclamation assessments in the oil/gas, utility, forestry or mining industries of Western Canada.
  • Professional designation, without conditions as (P.Bio, P.Ag, R.T. Ag., RPF, R.P.F.T., P.Geol., QAES, QWSP) would be preferred.
  • Knowledge of provincial legislation and guidelines, as they pertain to the Alberta Water Act, Public Lands Act, Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act, Alberta Wetland Policy & Directives, ABWRET, Reclamation Criteria for Wellsites and Associated Facilities.
  • Experience in utilizing the Record of Observation (RoO) Tool and filing Reclamation Certificate Applications.
  • Ability to assess aquatic systems including wetland delineation and prescribe mitigation strategies as required.
  • Proficient in the writing of technical reports, data entry, data compilation and the management of databases.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication and organizational skills, preferably with experience as a consultant.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel).

Pre-Employment Requirements

  • You have a valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalent),
  • You have the ability to work out in the field 30% of the year.
  • Have experience utilizing ATV’s / ARGO’s for work.
  • Available to work overtime to meet project deadlines.
  • You possess a strong interest in and capacity for field work, are comfortable working in remote locations, can physically walk through difficult terrain and can fly in helicopters for extended periods of time,
