Beavers—Canada’s national animal—are ecosystem engineers with a remarkable ability to store water, improve water quality, and create diverse habitats that strengthen watershed resilience. Yet, their dam-building and tree-felling activities can also create challenges for land managers, such as flooded roads, plugged culverts, or damaged trees.

The Working with Beavers project focuses on fostering coexistence by helping landowners and land managers reduce conflicts, build tolerance, and recognize the ecological benefits that beavers provide. This webinar will introduce practical, cost-effective tools—including culvert protectors, pond levelers, and tree wrapping—that support coexistence while protecting infrastructure and property.
