L’année 2021 marque le début de la Décennie des Nations Unies pour la restauration des écosystèmes. Cette décennie nous invite à intensifier drastiquement à l’échelle mondiale la restauration d’écosystèmes dégradés ou détruits, de façon à lutter contre les changements climatiques, à renforcer la biodiversité, la sécurité alimentaire et l’accès à l’eau potable.
La restauration des écosystèmes cadre parfaitement avec la mission de l’Association Canadienne de Réhabilitation des Sites Dégradés (ACRSD / CLRA en anglais). C’est pourquoi, nous avons entrepris d’offrir une série de webinaires gratuits sur des sujets liés à la restauration écologique. Notre deuxième webinaire, mardi le 30 mars de 12h00 à 13h00, comprendra deux présentations. Notre premier conférencier, M. Sylvain Jutras nous fera découvrir comment nous pouvons mieux gérer les milieux humides forestiers pour s’assurer qu’ils maintiennent leurs fonctions écologiques.
Puis, Mme Line Rochefort, correspondante nationale pour le Canada du Groupe d'évaluation scientifique et technique de la Convention de Ramsar, nous entretiendra sur l’adaptation de la convention Ramsar face aux nouvelles approches de conservation des zones humides.

Mieux gérer les milieux humides forestiers par une protection efficace de leurs fonctions hydrologiques
Les récentes révisions des cadres légaux et réglementaires concernant les milieux humides au Québec introduisent maintenant le concept d’« aucune perte nette ». Les implications de ces changements nécessitent de bien cibler les fonctions écologiques et hydrologiques qui sont rendues par ces écosystèmes. Les fonctions hydrologiques des milieux humides forestiers sont toutefois souvent mal comprises et c’est en identifiant celles-ci pour chaque principal type de milieu humide qu’il sera possible d’en assurer la
conservation.
M. Sylvain Jutras, Professeur titulaire, Université Laval
Il est actuellement professeur titulaire au sein de la faculté de foresterie, de géographie et de géomatique de l’Université Laval. M. Jutras enseigne plusieurs cours couvrant les concepts de l’hydrologie appliqués aux milieux forestiers et humides. Ses domaines d’expertises sont liés aux effets de l’aménagement forestier sur l’eau, à la voirie forestière, à la mesure de la neige en milieu forestier, à l’hydrologie des tourbières ainsi qu’à la cartographie hydrographique à partir de données LiDAR.
La convention de Ramsar a 50 ans : de la cloche de verre à la restauration des écosystèmes de milieux humides
La Convention sur les zones humides est un traité intergouvernemental dédié à la conservation et l’utilisation rationnelle des zones humides et de leurs ressources. À sa fondation dans les années 1960 (signé à Ramsar, Iran en 1971), la mission première de Ramsar visait la protection des milieux humides particulièrement ceux d’importance comme habitats de sauvagine. Pour demeurer pertinent dans l’ère de l’Anthropocène, la Convention se doit d’intégrer les nouveaux courants de pensée écologique et approches de conservation. L’exemple de la restauration des tourbières drainées sera présenté.
Mme Line Rochefort, Professeure titulaire, Université Laval
Elle est professeure titulaire et chercheure. Elle fait partie du Groupe de recherche en écologie des tourbières de l’Université Laval. Mme Rochefort est la chef de file en restauration écologique des tourbières au Canada et l'une des pionnières au monde dans ce domaine. Elle est correspondante nationale pour le Canada du Groupe d'évaluation scientifique et technique (GEST) de la Convention de Ramsar depuis avril 2019.
