About

Tailings and Mine Waste 2019 is part of a series of symposia on mill tailings management that started at Colorado State University in 1978. The Conference offers a forum for the professional exchange of knowledge and skills related to mill tailings and mine waste, and future issues facing the mining and environmental communities. In 2015, the last time the conference was held in Vancouver, over 400 delegates attended from over 50 countries around the world. Delegates will have the opportunity to learn from speakers presenting short courses, paper sessions, and posters.

Conference Themes:

  1. Management/Governance in relation to tailings management best practices in conceptualization, design, operation, closure and post-closure
  2. Contributions to Sustainable Development across the same life-cycle stages noted for Management/Governance
