A Peatland Restoration Workshop will be held in Manitoba (Winnipeg area, Canada) on June 23-24, 2022. The workshop is organized by the Peatland Ecology Research Group (PERG) in collaboration with the Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss Association (CSPMA) and Sun Gro Horticulture.

It is intended for anyone involved in planning, implementing or evaluating peatland restoration projects. The workshop will focus on the restoration of minerotrophic peatlands but will also present a recap of the knowledge on ombrotrophic peatlands restoration.

The first day will be an indoor session with short seminars, international and national case studies in fen restoration where discussion is encouraged. On the second day, we invite you in the field, in a peatland to restore, to see how to properly rewet a peatland, what type of vegetation to spread depending on the type of peatland, good practices for harvesting donor material, how to effectively apply a protective mulch and more! Rewetted and restored peatland will also be visited.
